Disclosures & Corrections

Everything a reader needs to weigh what I say, in one place.

Last updated: August 2026

1. No commercial interest

Nothing on this site is sponsored, affiliated, or commissioned. No vendor pays me. There are no affiliate links, no discount codes, no referral arrangements, and no sponsored placements anywhere on this site. I do not sell products and I earn nothing if you buy anything from anyone.

If that ever changes, this section changes first and the disclosure appears on the face of every affected page — not here in the fine print. That is what the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255) require, and it is what I would want as a reader.

This matters for a specific reason. Almost everything written about this category is written by someone selling something. That is not automatically disqualifying, but it is always relevant, and readers are usually not told. You are being told.

2. Who writes this

I'm Makay Groves. I spent four years in air traffic control for the FAA and the Department of Defense, and I hold a certificated flight instructor rating and a B.S. in Aviation Science. I've worked as a litigation paralegal, and I'm a law student.

Those are the relevant qualifications and they are narrow ones. They mean I know how to read a document, check a citation, verify an entity, and tell the difference between a claim and a substantiated claim. They do not make me a chemist, an analyst, a pharmacist, or a physician.

3. What this site is not

4. How claims here are sourced

Factual claims are sourced to primary authority where primary authority exists — the Code of Federal Regulations, FDA and FTC publications, published compendial standards, and manufacturer technical documentation. Sources are linked inline so you can check them rather than take my word for it.

Where I could not verify something, I say so on the page rather than omitting the uncertainty or rounding it into a confident statement. Each long-form article carries a section listing what I hedged and why. That section is not boilerplate — read it, because it usually contains the most important limitations on whatever you just read.

Specifically, I do not publish numeric thresholds — purity cutoffs, mass-error tolerances, endotoxin limits — for uncharacterized research material. Compendial limits are product- and route-specific and do not transfer. Publishing a number would imply a specification that does not exist.

5. Email

If you give me your email address, I use it to send new breakdowns as I write them. I do not sell, rent, or share your address, and I do not send product offers because there are none to send. Every message includes a working unsubscribe link and a physical mailing address, as the CAN-SPAM Act requires. Unsubscribing is honored promptly and permanently.

6. Corrections

If something here is factually wrong, tell me and I will correct it and note the correction on the page with the date. I would rather be corrected than be wrong in public, and a site about verifying claims that refuses to have its own claims verified would be worth nothing.

Short version

Nobody pays me. I don't sell anything. I read documents for a living and I'm showing you how. I'm not a doctor, I'm not your lawyer, and where I'm unsure I say so on the page. Tell me when I'm wrong.
